You may or may not have noticed that there are different RANKINGS for everyone on the board. They are broken up into two sections, administrative and general.
Inside the ADMINISTRATIVE section, there are currently three main categories. These categories are as follows: The Powers that Be, Staff, and Professors.
The POWERS THAT BE (or POWERS for short) are the over all, be all, and end all administrators, the highest ranking possible. They have the AUTHORITY to warn, ban, suspend, or delete your account(s) as they see necessary to keep the peace on the board. They can modify any posts (or threads), delete them, etc, as they see fit. They create ALL THE RULES and enforce them. They create the MAIN PLOTS. They promote and demote as necessary, pending on behavior of the players. They have the LAST SAY in EVERYTHING. This does not mean they are not reasonable. They will enforce and follow the rules, but have the right to bend the rules if necessary. They are also THE ONLY ADMINS who can APPROVE OC's and AU's.
The STAFF are the MAIN MODERATORS directly under the POWERS THAT BE. They are the main "Policing" force of the board. They have the authority to suspend players/members, not including the Powers That Be, for breaking the HARD CORE RULES of the board. They can modify posts as necessary, issue warnings to board members, etc. They CANNOT ban (meaning permanent banning, though they can suspend), delete accounts, or create rules. They are NOT the ones who okay OC's or AU's. That's the POWERS' job. They also do not currently create Main Plots, except in the Role Playing Blitz section.
PROFESSORS are minor moderators and should be respected as authorities. They do have authority to smite, within reason, and can edit posts as necessary, also within reason. This is primarily done in their assigned areas, mainly their classrooms and any assigned areas given them by the "Powers that Be". They are not to exact discipline for infractions (breaking) The HARD CORE RULES, nor will they speak for the "Powers that be" without one of said "powers'" backing and approval. They cannot ban or suspend but can issue warnings.

Inside the GENERAL section, there are five rankings: Applicant, Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior.
ANYONE INSIDE THE GENERAL SECTION IS CONSIDERED A STUDENT.
An APPLICANT is someone who has not yet reached the 25 post count requirement, or those who have not been approved (for OC's and AU's), regardless of actual post count. (Viewed post count will be changed accordingly if this is the case.)
FRESHMAN is anyone with between 25 and 2,500 posts.
SOPHOMORE is anyone with between 2,501 and 5,000 posts.
JUNIOR is anyone with between 5,001 and 7,500 posts.
SENIOR is anyone with over 7,201 posts.

You may also noticed the NPC category. This one is outside the normal categories. ONLY POWERS THAT BE AND STAFF, at this time, MAY CREATE ANY CHARACTER FOR THIS CATEGORY.
In typical terms, NPC stands for "non-played character", but in regards to this category, it is someone who is not a student or an admin/mod, and is usually created as the antagonist/protagonist of any MAIN PLOT. Characters in this category may be assigned to ANY PLAYER, and, at the end of the plot, may be either retired, deleted, or adopted by said player asked to play such character.
